Ingredients:
1 c. (4 oz.) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 c. self rising white cornmeal
1/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. finely chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1/3 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
Directions:
Combine cheese, cornmeal, flour, onion and sugar. Add milk and egg, mixing until well blended. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of batter into deep hot oil, 375 degrees. Fry 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Drain and serve warm. (Approximately 2 dozen)
